Dinner in Barcelona

ELSA Y FRED

tapas / spanish food in el born.  Loved this spot so much, delicious and huge gin and tonics! This was our first stop on the great Patatas Bravas tour of 2017.

TAKTIKA BERRI

We sat at a table and had full waiter service, but the cool thing about this spot is that it’s pinxos. So if you go and sit at the bar, you just grab the tapas as they come out and they charge you at the end based on how many toothpicks are on your table. So it's a very different experience if you sit at a table or at the bar but either way the food was really great! And we would go up and grab a few tapas as they came out too so it is possible to do both.

EL NATIONAL taperia

Gracia - the whole building is very cool! It’s  an old train station that has 3 restaurants and a few bars inside it! We ate at the taperia and loved it! They announce the tapas as they are ready and waiters walk around with them - you just flag em over and grab the dish.  There was an amazing patatas bravas with an egg on top!!

BAR DEL PLA

Patatas Bravas tour continues! great casual option in el born - very close to picasso museum if that’s on your agenda (as it should be). Everything we got was really tasty and you can tell its a local spot in a touristy neighborhood, which can be hard to find.

La Fonda del port Olimpic

went here with my dad’s work crew.  It was FINE but actually the only place we got paella so i liked it more than i thought i would.  Near the water which was a nice mix up too! So if you’re in town with a big focus on the beach, could be a good option. obviously that’s not totally my style lol but I support you.

Bar LObo

Was great in 2012, but haven’t confirmed recently - We had the best nice dinner at Bar Lobo, and ended up being one of my favorite restaurants of the entire semester.  The sangria was so great, as were the tons of tapas we ordered. The décor is also so amazing, recommended!

El Xampanyet

this was one of the most fun spots! It’s a cava bar, which is the spanish version of champagne.  The bottles are only 10 Euro and every table has one on it. The food was also really delicious - we had a spanish omelet, some cod and chickpea dish and steak.  The waiter was just like ‘what do you like’ and then brought us dishes until we told him to stop. Really just a fun atmosphere and great time! Gets turnt!

TICKETS

this is probably the craziest culinary experience i have ever had. It’s super expensive, so I wouldn’t totally recommend for every trip, but the restaurant is wild. It felt like walking into willy wonka’s factory. It can be super hard to get a reservation, but if you’re down to spend a couple hundo euros and you can get in, you may want to. Yale rejected the expense from this dinner lol.
