Bars and Music in New Orleans

Before I get down to the nitty gritty here, which will probably just be dumb stories about me and emmy being incoherent idiots, I would say the key is to look up who is playing at each bar each night and plan accordingly.  Otherwise grab an Abita purple haze and get down !

THE BULL DOG

uptown, no music. Love hanging by the fountain at the back patio. Last year, I came here straight from the airport, suitcase in hand. I also think this is where a bird pooped on Lexi one time. Good luck spot!!

PAT O'BRIEN'S

the only french quarter bar I'll tolerate.  It's a huge, sprawling bar / restaurant with all different rooms. The backyard is great during the day, and the piano bar is really cool too, but shockingly not for the piano.  There's an old dude who plays a tin tray with coins on it. I can't really describe it more than that. It's very ~unique New Orleans~

THE MAPLE LEAF

uptown, John Cleary central. Also has a back yard that I love! Maybe that's a common theme I'm only now realizing. So much fun here so definitely check the schedule.

Nola brewing co

off tchopatulas if I so recall. Went here with harry one day and it was a beautiful sunny January afternoon. They have a huge selection of unique beer on tap. I think I got something with pineapple I really liked?! And maybe something named after a drag queen… memory slightly fuzzy. They also have a great BBQ window incase you're not already full from the beer. We definitely got brisket and mac and cheese that rendered me a little comatose.

THE Blue nile

Frenchman streeet! I think last time I saw squeeze in Nola was here. So as you might guess my memory is questionable at best. But definitely check the line up for the weekend and see if anyone interesting is playing here!

Tipitina's

on tchop I think! Could look it up but I'm just like tiiiips <3 seriously can not go wrong here at all. Get a tee shirt for good measure like everyone else in this city.

One eyed jack's

french quarter bar & music. I actually forgot to include this until it was on the bachelor this week … thanks nick viall for the memz. But yes we east Nth power do a earth wind and fire tribute show here and it was just he most amazing. Luckily I can remember some of the hits through my streaming tears (story for another time)

Spotted Cat

Frenchmen street across from DBA! Pop in while you’re in the neighborhood.

BACCHANAL

Wine bar waaaay far out in bywater. You’ll definitely need to take an uber there but it was so worth it.  You go into the shop, grab a few cheeses and a bottle. At the counter, they’ll board up the cheese for you with nuts, jam, bread, and bring it out to your table.  Outside is open seating and music in a beautiful backyard. Fave new destination!
