Dinner in Stockholm

B.A.R.

This was one of our favorite restaurants when we visited Stockholm as a family in 2014.  You can go in and choose a cut of fish or shellfish from the day’s catch, and they will prepare it for you as you like.  They also have a bunch of things a la carte, and the space is really nice.  When we went a few years ago, the princess had been at the restaurant only a few days previous! It’s nice, but not exorbitant, like most things are in Stockholm. (Ostermalm)

RICHE

Riche is probably the most expensive place we went that week, but it was really delicious.  I think we got Swedish meatballs and some other normal things for dinner but dessert was the best thing ever.  We ordered the Gino, which is basically a bowl of melted white chocolate filled with fresh fruit and topped with vanilla ice cream.  Once we ordered it here, we continued to get it everywhere else we saw it on the menu. PA&Co

This small restaurant is in Ostermalm, right behind our hotel.  I tried to be adventurous and ordered mackerel because I thought I was being so authentic and Scandinavian.  Turned out I was a little too confident and ended up eating everyone elses food instead…and of course a Gino for dessert. Speceriet

I love Speceriet! We went here as a family and had the most beautiful roast chicken in 2014.  Then, when I came back for class in 2017 I went back and took myself out for a fancy solo dolo dinner.  Even though the chicken was no longer on the menu, I still enjoyed beautiful fish and asparagus dishes.  And they have the best bread with salty butter!! Hermans

This was a recommendation from a classmate during my 2017 trip and we had a really nice dinner there.  Im gonna be honest, all-you-can-eat vegetarian buffet was not that appealing to me, but I was happily proven wrong.  There was a yellow curry that I really enjoyed, and I think I ate a full watermelon.  Stockholm is pretty expensive overall, so this was a great break from pricey meals.  With a student ID, the buffet is half off, so overall we were pretty pleased with the experience, and great views from the heights of Sodermalm! Urban Deli

I love Urban Deli - they have a few locations, but this one in Sodermalm is the most restauranty and fun.  The grocery store itself is so fun and I wish I could have taken everything home.  I took many pics to send to Lauren instead, because I just couldn’t pack such items in my carry on.  I got the truffled cabbage with arctic char (pink fish) and it was great! K25 / Beijing 8

K25 is like a fancy foodcourt, like Gansevoort Market in the Meatpacking District or Vanderbilt Hall.  They had so many intriguing options it was very hard for me to choose, but ultimately I got dumplings from Beijing 8 and I really enjoyed them.  I actually got the 18 dumpling-2 side meal that was about $20.  The guy was like, “having a party?” and I said yes…. But they were actually all for me.  Sadly I only could finish 12. Still great! (Ostermalm)
