Culture in Barcelona, Gaudi Houses Edition

CASA BATLLO

Really beautiful Gaudi building on an upscale shopping street. Get used to the man, the myth, the legend, the Gaudi. His work is literally everywhere, but you won’t get sick of it. I didn’t go in this house, but it is so lovely from the outside, you have to stop and at least take a pic. It is possible to take a tour, just can’t speak to it from personal experience.

Casa Mila

I did go inside this one!  We climbed the six flights of stairs to the roof, which was absolutely amazing.  It is covered in recycled glass mosaic structures that are so cool and fun! Some of the inside is preserved as the house it used to be, and some of it is turned into a Gaudi museum.  There was a really cool thing about how he redesigned arches using hanging chains. Pretty courtyard too!

Palau Guell

one of gaudi's first buildings in Barcelona! right off las ramblas so very easy to get to!  It was really nice to visit one of gaudi’s earlier works and see how he worked with the Guell family before building the massive park. (see Culture in Barcelona, Parks Edition! (which I will link to when it’s live, maybe?))
